Active Systems for Safety

The single greatest trend within the global development of the motor vehicle industry is the constantly expanding feature of electronics and software. More and more advanced sensors and automatic control systems make it possible to increase the safety both inside and outside the vehicle considerably. Active safety systems also reduce the need for passive safety solutions and are needed in order to be able to build lighter and more energy-efficient vehicles.

The vehicles of the future will be an integrated part of the transportation system which requires close interaction with the infrastructure. The step forward from the current passive infrastructure to the active infrastructure of tomorrow entails a large challenge which is primarily not technical.

Swedish ICT contributes to the development of advanced sensor solutions which can be mass-produced and scalable active systems which enable a gradual transition to an intelligent infrastructure.
