research projects

The aim of my research is to explore new territories of personal expression and everyday creativity enabled by ubiquitous computing. Situating computing into the physical world and everyday settings, this technology adds new dimensions and meaning to everyday activities and behaviours, and can give rise to new aesthetic practices using the everyday as a creative resource.
The projects I work on are collaborative and multidisciplinary. They focus in particular on mobile media for urban space and computational repurposing of everyday objects. Method used: Research questions and concepts are embodied into working prototypes developed during iterative interaction design processes. We put the prototypes into use in real world situations, and study emerging uses and interactions. Based on findings from the study of these prototypes in action, we derive design implications to inform the future development of ubicomp technologies supporting aesthetic creativity embedded in the everyday.
The following projects have been realised at the Future Applications Lab, Viktoria Institute, within the project networks: Mobile Life, Smart-Its, and EC Agents. My supervisor: Lars Erik Holmquist.
