Lecture 21 oct. HCI overview and introduction to Perception and Cognition. This lecture starts with describing the role of HCI in design. After this, we explore how humans percieve their world and how the information richness from our senses  can be included or neglected in design. An (assignment) designproject including a practical exercise as well as a written report and oral presentation will be given this lecture.

Lecture 23 oct. Design methodology. This lecture will involve a theoretical base as well as practical exercises that concerns a design process. "When the intercace is a talking dinasour: learning across media with actimates barney" [pdf], will be discussed a long with some other practical exercise. View: Design Methodology slides

Lecture 28 oct. Prototyping in practice. Different techniques to brainstorm, prototype and to inspire design will be explored. View prototyping slides and photos from the brainstorm exercise. Suggested readings:

1. Mixers, a participatory approach to design prototyping by R Maze, M Bueno, Procedings of DIS 2002

2. Experience Prototyping by M Buchenau & J Fulton Suri, Proceedings of DIS'00

3.Designoriented Human Computer Interaction by D Fallman, Proceedings of CHI'03 (Compares design and research on an advanced level)

Lecture 30 oct
. Student presentation of the designproject  (that was given at the first lecture).
