2008

October 19 Ylva Fernaeus, Mattias Jacobson and Alex Taylor and me arranged a workshop at Nordichi´08 about Designing Robotic Artefacts with User and Experience-Centred Perspectives.

Oct 10 -12 LIREC meeting in Lisabon.

Sept 19-21 I conducted interviews with artists at Artbots in Dublin.

June 7 I started at the Mobile Life Centre in Stockholm to work with future mobile applications, and with robots for everyday life in the newly started EU project called LIREC (LIving with Robots and intEractive Companions).

April 7 to June 6  I did an internship at Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK. I  worked with Richard Harper and his collegues in the Socio-Digital Systems group.

April 25 I defended my thesis "Beyond Users: Grounding Technology in Experience" in Human-Machine Interaction at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, Stockholm University. The opponent was Bill Gaver from Goldsmiths, University of London.





2007 

August 22-25  DPPI' 2007 Presented a paper about the Lomographers role in the design process of Context Photography at  DPPI'07 - Designing Pleasurable Products and Interfaces

August 27 - 30 Mobile Life VINNex Centre Opening Stockholm August 30.  Workshop at Ericsson on the 29th. Inauguration August 30.

Sept16 - 19 Attended the Ubicomp conference and presented a paper at the Workshop on Ubiquitous Sustainability: Technologies for Green Values
in Innsbruck, Austria.
 
August 7-9  Siggraph Emerging Technologies. My collegues presented our collaborative project: Glowbots

May 22-25  ECAgents review meeting in Venice, Italy.

May 14-18  Mobile life centre goes to Japan. Visting Keio university, Sony etc.

April 28-May 3 CHI conference, San Jose, CA, USA. Presented the paper: Transfer Scenarios: Grounding innovation with marginal practices,  in the session about design methods,

March 7-8  Kickoff in Kista, Stockholm for the Mobile Life Centre.

February 18-20  Visitied Alex Taylor at Microsoft, Cambridge to discuss robot research. I also gave a presentation about my work on agents and robots.

February 8 Early kick-off for the Mobile Life Centre, Stockholm.

February 7 Invited talk at Utsikt 2007 Conference, Stockholm. A yearly conference about applied inforamtion technology research in Sweden.  I presented Context photography and the role of Lomographers in the designprocess.


2006


December 11- 12  Meeting with the Evolution of Commmunication project group at Intelligent systems at EPFL in Lausanne. We will discuss E-puck robot development and robot demonstrators for the EC-agents project.

October  28 - November 3  I travelled as a representative for Mobile Life Excellence Centre in a delegation to Korea (arranged by Vinnova). We visited Kaist, Kosef, (Dae-Jon) Pusan University Hyundai (Pusan) ITEP and Samsung (Seoul).

October 14-18 NordiChi 2006, Oslo the Fourth Nordic Conference on Human Computer Interaction. We presented the paper "More than meets the eye: An Exploratory User Study of Context Photography"


September 6-8 RO-MAN 06- The 15th IEEE International Symposium on Robot and Human Interactive Communication, Hertfordshire, UK "Getting to know socially intelligent robots" Presented the paper: Designing Personal Embodied Agents with Personas.

April 24-27 CHI 2006, Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems On the 25 of April  (16.30) Maria presented our alt-chi paper on snapshots from a study on Context Photography. I attended the Workshop on Theory and Method for Experience Centred Design, and one course on Personas. The workshop was overall very interesting and I especially apprechiated the work presented by Bill Gaver and Phoebe Sengers, as their  work exemplifies values that I find important for experience design.

September 27-30 attended the EC-agents meeting in Rome, dicsussing active media agents and possible "smart" toys for Aibo

September 7-10 Maria Håkansson and presented a poster at Ubicomp 2004 in collaboration with the Santa Anna Insitute. We also had a demo of the Pin&Play prototype that two of our master's students have developed.

August 1-5 I attended DIS (Designing Interactive Systems) showing our Context Camera in the Design Exhibition with my collegues.

The Context Camera (Picture This! project) was presented at CHI 2004 Conference on Human Computer Interaction,  in Wienna, 25th to 29th of April. Lalya, Maria and me met the Lomographic Society in Vienna. During the CHI conference I also attended a workshop on Time Design, contributing with lessons learned about designing time with Informative Art.

June- Pin&Play meeting at Lancaster University, UK. Pin&Play is a project that involves ad-hoc networking among obejcts, attached to a large surface. It is sponsored by the European Commission's Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) program.
