2013 International Forum on Electric Vehicle Pilot Cities and Industrial Development

Proposed by China and the United States at the first Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) in Washington, July 2010, the Electric Vehicles Initiative (EVI) has received positive response from its 15 member states and the International Energy Agency (IEA). This joint attempt will put at least 20 million electric vehicles on the road worldwide by 2020 based on announced targets of EVI countries. As an essential component of EVI, the International Forum on EV Pilot Cities and Industrial Development brings together representatives from governments, EV pilot cities, industry, research institutes and other stakeholders to share best practices and innovative solutions for the deployment of EVs in cities. The plan is that the annual Forum should be held in Shanghai, China on odd years; while on even years it should happen in an EVI member state other than China. The first and second Forums were held in Shanghai, China in 2011 and Los Angeles, the United States in 2012, respectively.

The theme of the 2013 International Forum on EV Pilot Cities and Industrial Development is “EV Ready, Fresh City”. The 2013 Forum consists of the Plenary Session, Innovative Practices of International EV Pilot Cities, EV Business Model and Consumer Analysis, EV Industrial Development. We expect around 150 leaders from the world - city and agency decision makers, business executives, and non-profit leaders - to gather in Shanghai and explore central issues such as business model innovation, EV readiness in cities, infrastructure construction, consumer behaviors, etc.
