Peter Altmann joins Digital Innovation

7 May, 2018 - 13:35

We are happy to welcome Peter Altmann to RISE Viktoria as a senior researcher within Digital Innovation. He is an inspirational force with deep knowledge of blockchain technology, how organizations adapt to new technologies and digital innovation in general.

On the 7th of June, 2017, he defended his thesis ”Toward a cyclical model of resource alteration” at the Department of Technology Management and Economics, Chalmers University of Technology. The opponent was Professor Patrick Reinmoeller, Cranfield School of Management, UK. In his thesis, Peter investigates divergent resource understandings within an organization, the consequences of these divergent resource understandings, and how such divergences emerge in the first place.

“Radical new technologies challenge organizations to change and adapt in order to remain competitive, or at times just to survive. Such strategic changes are particularly difficult when technologies are introduced that fundamentally change the value creation and value capture logic of a firm. Digitalization is often conceptualized as one such fundamental change that forces organizations to adapt. Based on a deep technical understanding of the technology, I seek to conduct research that explores the sociotechnical determinants of how digitalization necessitates new ways of coordinating economic activity.”
