Viktoria Swedish ICT in a new project on predictive maintenance

2 September, 2013 - 20:35

Viktoria Swedish ICT and Infracontrol AB are participating in a joint research project aiming at building knowledge about predictive maintenance of road infrastructure. Traditionally, preventive or repair maintenance are used to maintain the infrastructure however these methods are costly and in addition they often cause additional disturbances as the infrastructure needs to be shut down in order to safely carry out the repair. This project will use historical data from sensors distributed within the infrastructure to identify patterns that may reveal an upcoming disturbance, and thus, countermeasures may be performed early in order to prevent or dampen the disturbance. The project will develop tools and methods that may be used to further analyze and visualize the data in order to build a system that can predict disturbances, and thus enables predictive maintenance. The project is financed by Västra götalandsregionen via FoU kortet and will run from September 1st to April 30, 2014.
