This project focus on battery state estimation by the use of direct measurements of the battery’s physical state of charge (SoC). Estimation of battery states is of very high importance for safe, reliable and efficient use of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles as well as other applications. So far such estimation has proven to be associated with challenges that we hope to be able circumvent.
The main object of this pre-study is to prove and verify the concept of estimating states of lithium-ion batteries with the aid of an electromagnetic sensor which measures the physical state of charge of a battery cell. The second aim is to plan and prepare for the main study, in which the concept will be demonstrated and evaluated. To do so, necessary background material will be compiled, a detailed system description made, and partnerships with representatives from industry and academy established.
