CHOReVOLUTION is a collaboration project of eight european actors providing a platform for provisioning of innovative applications for Future Internet. CHOReVOLUTION undertakes both research and innovation tasks. The former concentrates on choreography modelling, synthesis, adaptation, service bus, security, and cloud; the latter focus on industrial validation, development support and integration platform, and the establishment of a CHOReVOLUTION community and market take-up. The platform is assessed by the use cases in a form of new applications in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Viktoria Swedish ICT lead one of the two use-cases.
The CHOReVOLUTION platform enables gathering of information and the demonstrator will be used for validation. Sensors providing information will be used for feeding the platform with data. In the next step, cloud computing will be used to create services that will enhance urban traffic coordination. Human machine interfaces will be developed in order to distribute and provide information to the drivers. The CHOReVOLUTION platform will be key technology to bridge diverse sensors and user-devices. Choreography is crucial to deal with the changing environment, infrastructure and diverse characteristics of road-users.
The use case is built based on CHOReVOLUTION platform for reducing the environmental impact of urban transportation in the city of Gothenburg. This use case will demonstrate how a Choreography-based application can be used to influence road users to reduce their CO2 emissions by interconnecting a networked traffic system. The system will consist of different information collection methods, on-board devices for collecting real-time data from vehicles, APIs for collecting real-time traffic status (congestion level, traffic lights, etc.), to name a few. Online data analysis and information exchange, provided with the CHOReVOLUTION platform, enable efficient information collection and distribution among road users. The information may include but are not limited to, speed recommendations, acceleration and braking recommendations, route suggestions. The information provided can be combined with the vehicles’ own perception of the environment to influence drivers’ behavior for enabling environmental friendly driving. In short, the application provides information that makes it easier for the drivers to take eco-aware decisions. The information exchange within the transport system, enabled by the CHOReVOLUTION platform, makes it possible for all the road users to constantly adjust to the dynamic transport system.
