State of Function

The State of Function project aims to improve State of Charge (SoC) and State of Power (SoP) estimation algorithms with respect to automotive applications.

The main difficulty with both SoC and SoP is the lack of sensors that can measure the underlying electrochemical processes. For this reason, the state of the battery must be estimated using measures of current, voltage and temperature together with mathematical models of the battery.

This project is supported by the Swedish Energy Agency through the FFI Electromobility program. Viktoria Swedish ICT contributes to the project with a PhD student working on state estimation algorithms. Partners are Volvo Car Corporation, Volvo Group, Chalmers University of Technology, SP and Intertek.
