About the project:

This is a multi-disciplinary project on visual distraction and how it can be minimised/prevented when using information communication technologies while cycling.

Visual distraction is well defined for car drivers and approaches for how to measure distraction have been identified. However, it is less explored for cyclists and a unified theory is yet to be presented. For instance, previous research on cyclists has shown that electronic devices were not the main cause of accidents while others have shown that portable devices (12-34 years old) increase the likelihood of accidents while cycling.

This project will via interviews, questionnaires and a simulator study investigate the effect of electronic device usage further.
